About Me:

School: University of CA, Davis with a major in Design & minor in Art

In addition to getting my BA from UC Davis, I believe that as designers we have to continuously learn and keep up in our space with emerging trends and new technology. I make it my mission to learn new programs and techniques that would benefit my clients the most through seminars and online courses. Software is always changing and there is always something more efficient and better than the year before. I share this information with my clients to make sure their businesses is performing optimally.

Location: San Diego, CA

I took my first graphic design class in high school! We learned how to use Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. I loved it so much and decided to go to college and major in it. After college I moved back to the Bay Area and started working graphic design jobs in San Francisco for a few years.

When did you start YOUR OWN DESIGN BUSINESS?

I'm originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to San Diego about 5 years ago, and I plan to stay! I love the creative community here and you really can’t beat these amazing San Diego sunsets! My job allows me to be a digital nomad so I’m always traveling and working wherever there is WiFi.

When did you become a graphic designer?

I left my in-house design job in 2017 to freelance on my own. Throughout my corporate career I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of responsibilities beyond design such as project management of product launches to representing the marketing team during executive strategy meetings. It was really seeing the whole picture of how companies operated that helped me formulate my vision for my own company as well as help my clients.

Hobbies:

Art goes hand in hand with graphic design. I love to travel with a watercolor sketchbook and just take the time to paint and doodle while traveling.

Working out! I’ve incorporated fitness into my business plan. I truly believe that it has helped me be more creative in my business and allows me to have more productive days. (Ok, yes, there are still somedays when I have deadlines that I won’t get out of my chair…) But staying active allows me to feel healthy and in turn be a better designer. I used to hate working out but then I hired a personal trainer at 24 hour fitness (they interviewed me!) who helped me get to a 200lb squat & deadlift and now I love weight lifting! You’ll also find me at Renegade Fit Camp (my favorite group class - check it out) , BoxFit, and Sweat Society. Whenever I network with people I always offer to meet over coffee … or even a workout class!

Giving BacK:

Back in Oct 2018 I had the opportunity to be a guest lecturer at The Art Institute of California and speak about my experiences as a freelance graphic designer. It was the excitement of the students that made me realize that I love to help others. If you’re a student/new designer looking for career advice or looking for another pair of eyes for your portfolio, please feel free to reach out!
